thermotolerance

Thermotolerance is an organism's ability to adapt to and survive in higher-than-normal temperatures. When exposed to heat stress, cells can activate protective mechanisms, such as producing heat-shock proteins that help maintain protein integrity and cellular function. This adaptation allows the organism to become more resistant to subsequent heat exposures. Essentially, thermotolerance is the process by which living things prepare themselves to better withstand hot environments by activating defenses and repair systems, reducing potential damage and improving survival during periods of elevated temperature.
