Thermopylae

The Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE was a famous conflict where a small Greek force, led by King Leonidas of Sparta, defended a narrow mountain pass against the much larger Persian army. Despite being vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held the pass for three days, using the terrain to their advantage. Their stand became a symbol of courage and sacrifice, delaying the Persians’ advance and inspiring other Greek city-states to unite against the invasion. Although the Greeks ultimately lost, their stand at Thermopylae became legendary for demonstrating strategic bravery against overwhelming odds.
