thermal resistance

Thermal resistance measures how well a material or component resists the flow of heat. Think of it like a barrier that slows down heat transfer between two sides. A higher thermal resistance means the material keeps heat from passing through easily, helping insulate surfaces or components. It's similar to how thick walls or insulating materials keep a room warm or cool—by impeding the transfer of heat. Thermal resistance is often expressed in units called "Kelvin per watt" (K/W), indicating how much the temperature difference across the material increases for each watt of heat flowing through it.
