Thermal Mass Concepts
Thermal mass refers to the ability of a material to absorb, store, and later release heat. Materials like concrete, brick, and stone have high thermal mass, allowing them to moderate temperature changes in a space. During the day, they absorb heat from sunlight, keeping an area cool. At night, they release that stored heat, warming the space. This process can enhance energy efficiency in buildings, reducing the need for heating and cooling, and maintaining a comfortable climate indoors. It's an important concept in sustainable architecture and passive solar design.
