Thermae
Thermae are ancient Roman public baths designed for socializing, relaxation, and hygiene. These baths typically feature large, heated pools (caldarium), cooler pools (frigidarium), and areas for exercise, massage, and conversation. Built to serve the community, they showcased Roman engineering with sophisticated heating systems called hypocausts that warmed the water and floors. Thermae were important cultural centers, promoting wellness and social interaction, and many ruins remain today as impressive historical sites reflecting Roman engineering and social life.
