Theory of Structuration
The Theory of Structuration, developed by sociologist Anthony Giddens, explains how social systems are created and maintained through the ongoing interactions of individuals. It suggests that people follow established rules and norms (structure) when they act, but their actions also have the power to change those rules and norms over time. In other words, structure and agency influence each other: our behaviors shape society, and society shapes our behaviors, creating a dynamic process that continually produces social order while allowing for change.
