Theory of Biogenesis
The Theory of Biogenesis states that living organisms can only arise from other living organisms. This means that life does not spontaneously appear from non-living matter. For example, like how animals come from parents or seeds grow into plants, new life originates from pre-existing life. This idea replaced earlier beliefs that life could spontaneously generate from non-living things. Scientific experiments, such as Louis Pasteur’s work in the 19th century, supported this theory by showing that microorganisms only grow when they come from existing microbes, confirming that life comes from life.
