Theories of Constraints (TOC)
Theories of Constraints (TOC) is a management approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the single most limiting factor—the "constraint"—that prevents a system from achieving its goals. By improving or removing this constraint, overall performance and throughput can be enhanced. It emphasizes continuous improvement through a five-step process: identify the constraint, exploit it, subordinate everything else to it, elevate it if needed, and then revisit to find new constraints. This approach helps organizations effectively increase productivity, reduce delays, and optimize operational flow by targeting the key obstacle first.
