Theories of Causation
Theories of causation explore how and why events happen due to other events. Causation can be seen as a direct cause-and-effect link, where one thing leads to another (causalism). Another view considers causes as necessary conditions, meaning the effect couldn't happen without them. Some theories focus on probabilistic causation, where causes increase the likelihood of an effect. Others emphasize counterfactuals, asking whether the effect would occur if the cause hadn’t happened. Overall, causation theories aim to understand the relationships and conditions under which events produce specific outcomes.
