Theon of Smyrna
Theon of Smyrna was a 2nd-century Greek philosopher and mathematician. He is known for his contributions to early scientific understanding and possibly for writing treatises on astronomy, music, and mathematics, including a work presented as a dialogue. While not much of his work survives, he is recognized for his efforts to explain natural phenomena using rational thought during a period when mythology often explained the world. His teachings reflect an attempt to approach the cosmos systematically and rationally, influencing later thinkers in the development of science and philosophy.
