Theological Modernism
Theological Modernism is a movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that sought to reinterpret traditional Christian beliefs in light of new scientific, philosophical, and historical insights. It emphasized critical thinking, historical context, and the idea that religion should evolve and adapt to contemporary understanding. Modernists often questioned literal interpretations of Scripture and advocated for a more symbolic or metaphorical view of religious texts. This approach aimed to make faith more relevant and compatible with modern knowledge, but it also led to conflicts with more conservative religious groups who maintained traditional doctrines.
