Theodorus of Cyrene (mathematician)

Theodorus of Cyrene was an ancient Greek mathematician known for his work on geometry and the properties of numbers. He famously demonstrated that certain square roots, like √2, are irrational—meaning they cannot be expressed as a simple fraction. His work helped deepen understanding of number theory and the nature of irrational numbers, which was a significant advancement in Greek mathematics. Though little of his writings survived, his contributions laid groundwork for future mathematicians and helped shape the study of mathematical proofs and properties.
