Theodor Billroth (surgeon)

Theodor Billroth was a pioneering 19th-century surgeon known for advancing abdominal surgery. He performed the first successful removal of a stomach tumor (gastrectomy) and helped establish surgical techniques still used today. Billroth also contributed to medical education and founded the Vienna Surgical School. His work improved surgical safety and outcomes, particularly for stomach and intestinal conditions.
