Theis Equation

The Theis equation describes how groundwater water levels decline over time when a well is actively extracting water from an aquifer. It models the decrease based on how much water is pumped, the properties of the underground rock formation (like permeability and storage), and the distance from the well. Essentially, it helps hydrogeologists predict how the water table responds to pumping, allowing for better management of groundwater resources to prevent overuse or depletion, especially in areas where water is drawn for municipal, agricultural, or industrial use.
