The Zodiacal Light

Zodiacal Light is a faint, pyramid-shaped glow visible in the night sky, usually after sunset or before sunrise. It results from sunlight scattering off countless tiny dust particles in the solar system’s plane, mainly originating from comets and asteroid debris. These particles form a thin, triangular cone along the ecliptic, the path that the Sun appears to follow across the sky. The effect is best seen in dark, clear skies away from city lights, typically in spring or autumn. Zodiacal Light offers insight into the distribution of dust and debris within our solar system.
