The Young Lords

The Young Lords was a Puerto Rican civil rights organization founded in the 1960s, originally focusing on addressing issues affecting Puerto Rican communities in the U.S. They expanded their work to fight for social justice, including affordable housing, healthcare, education, and against racial discrimination. Inspired by the Black Power movement, they sought empowerment for marginalized groups, advocating for political activism and community control. The organization played a significant role in raising awareness about Latino rights and social inequality, combining activism with community service, and left a lasting impact on social justice efforts for Latino communities in the United States.
