The Yorkists
The Yorkists were supporters of the House of York, a royal family faction that competed for the English throne during the Wars of the Roses (1455-1487). They claimed that their leader, Edward IV, had a legitimate right to rule based on lineage. The conflict was between the Yorkists and their rivals, the Lancastrians, leading to a series of battles and political struggles. The wars ended with the victory of the Yorkist Henry Tudor (Henry VII), who united the factions and established the Tudor dynasty, bringing relative stability to England.
