The Yellow Turban Rebellion
The Yellow Turban Rebellion was a major peasant uprising in China around 184 CE during the late Han Dynasty. Discontent over heavy taxes, corruption, and widespread hardship fueled the revolt, which was led by the Daoist-inspired Yellow Turban Society. Thousands of peasants united, challenging imperial authority and seeking social and economic justice. Although the rebellion was eventually suppressed, it weakened the Han Dynasty significantly, contributing to its decline and the eventual period of disunion known as the Three Kingdoms era. The uprising highlights the impacts of social inequality and unrest on imperial stability.
