The Xuanzang

Xuanzang was a renowned Chinese Buddhist monk and scholar from the 7th century who traveled from China to India to study Buddhist teachings firsthand. His journey, lasting over 16 years, took him across Central Asia and into India, where he collected scriptures and studied under prominent teachers. His detailed records of his travels enriched Chinese Buddhism and helped transmit Indian Buddhist texts and ideas to China. Xuanzang’s work laid a foundation for later Buddhist scholarship and translation efforts, making significant contributions to the understanding and spread of Buddhism in East Asia.
