The Whitetail Deer

The whitetail deer is a medium-sized deer native to North America, easily recognized by its distinctive white tail which it raises when alarmed. Males, known as bucks, typically have antlers that shed and regrow annually, while females, called does, do not. Whitetails inhabit diverse environments, from forests to grasslands, and are most active during dawn and dusk. They are herbivorous, primarily feeding on leaves, fruits, and nuts. Known for their agility and keen senses, these deer are important to ecosystems and have cultural significance, often symbolizing wildlife heritage and conservation efforts.
