The White Lotus Rebellion

The White Lotus Rebellion was a series of uprisings in China during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, primarily from 1796 to 1804. It was led by secret religious groups called the White Lotus Society, which believed in millenarian ideas and sought to overthrow the ruling Qing Dynasty. The rebellions aimed to restore a more spiritual or traditional way of life and were fueled by economic hardships, government corruption, and social unrest. Although the Qing Dynasty managed to suppress these uprisings, they highlighted widespread dissatisfaction and contributed to ongoing challenges faced by the empire.
