the White House Plumbers
The White House Plumbers were a covert team within the U.S. government, formed in the early 1970s to prevent and stop leaks of classified information, particularly those involving the Pentagon Papers. Their activities included covert operations and, at times, illegal activities such as breaking into to sabotage political opponents. The group gained notoriety during the Watergate scandal, where their efforts to cover up illegal activities led to a major political crisis that ultimately resulted in President Nixon’s resignation. The Plumbers' actions highlighted issues of government secrecy, abuse of power, and the importance of accountability.
