The Wehrmacht

The Wehrmacht was the unified military force of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1945, comprising the Army (Heer), Navy (Kriegsmarine), and Air Force (Luftwaffe). It was responsible for Germany's military operations during World War II. While initially effective, it was also implicated in war crimes and atrocities, including the persecution of civilians and the Holocaust. The Wehrmacht played a central role in Germany's aggressive expansion and military campaigns across Europe, but after Germany's defeat, it was disbanded, and many of its tactics and personnel became subjects of investigation and accountability.
