The War of the Century

The War of the Century, also known as the Philippine-American War (1899–1902), was a conflict between the Philippines and the United States. After Spain ceded the Philippines to the U.S. following the Spanish-American War, Filipinos sought independence, leading to this resistance. The U.S. aimed to suppress the uprising and establish control, resulting in a brutal conflict marked by guerrilla warfare and significant casualties on both sides. It ultimately ended with the Philippines becoming a U.S. colony until gaining independence in 1946. The war is significant for exposing issues of colonialism, national sovereignty, and military tactics.
