The Voyagers

The Voyager spacecraft are two robotic probes launched by NASA in 1977 to explore the outer planets and beyond. Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 have traveled billions of miles from Earth, sending back valuable data about our solar system's planets, moons, and the space between stars. They carry scientific instruments and messages from humanity, including a gold record with sounds and images meant to represent Earth. Voyager 1 is now in interstellar space, making it the farthest human-made object from Earth. Their missions have greatly expanded our understanding of the outer solar system and the boundary of our local stellar environment.
