The Voyager Program

The Voyager Program launched two spacecraft, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, in 1977 to explore the outer planets and their moons. After studying Jupiter and Saturn, they continued outward, providing valuable scientific data about the solar system's outer regions. Both spacecraft are now in interstellar space, traveling beyond the influence of our Sun. They carry instruments to detect cosmic rays and magnetic fields, sending back data that helps us understand the environment beyond our solar system. The Voyager missions are notable for their longevity and the wealth of knowledge they’ve provided about the outer planets and interstellar space.
