The Viet Cong

The Viet Cong were South Vietnamese communist fighters and guerrilla forces that opposed the US-backed South Vietnamese government during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). They aimed to reunify Vietnam under communist control and employed tactics like guerrilla warfare, sabotage, and hit-and-run attacks. Supported by North Vietnam, the Viet Cong integrated with local populations to build a widespread resistance movement. Their efforts significantly challenged South Vietnamese and American military operations, ultimately contributing to the fall of South Vietnam and the unification of the country under communist rule.
