The Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is an archaeological site in Egypt where ancient Egyptian pharaohs and powerful nobles were buried during the New Kingdom period (around 16th to 11th centuries BCE). Located west of Luxor, it contains around 60 tombs carved into the limestone mountains. These tombs were designed to protect the deceased’s body and treasures, ensuring a successful journey to the afterlife. The site is famous for its richly decorated chambers and the tomb of Tutankhamun. It provides valuable insights into Egyptian burial practices, religion, and art.
