The Universalist General Convention

The Universalist General Convention was a religious organization representing Universalist congregations in the United States, founded in the 19th century. It aimed to promote Universalist beliefs emphasizing universal salvation—that all people are eventually forgiven and saved. The Convention provided a platform for churches to collaborate, share ideas, and advocate for social justice and religious liberty. Over time, it merged with the Unitarian movement, forming the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1961, broadening its scope to include diverse spiritual perspectives committed to social justice, compassion, and the dignity of every person.
