The unconscious mind (concept)
The unconscious mind refers to parts of our mental processes that occur outside of our awareness, influencing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It stores memories, beliefs, and automatic responses formed over time, shaping how we perceive the world and react without us consciously realizing it. While we are aware of our conscious thoughts, the unconscious operates silently in the background, guiding many of our habits and judgments. Understanding this helps explain why we sometimes act in ways we don’t fully understand or why certain experiences affect us deeply without our awareness.
