The U.S. Information Agency
The U.S. Information Agency (USIA) was a government organization responsible for sharing American culture, policies, and perspectives worldwide during the Cold War era. Its goal was to promote understanding and positive relations between the U.S. and other countries through media, cultural exchanges, and informational programs. USIA operated international broadcasts, supported educational initiatives, and distributed publications to foster global awareness of American values and policies. It was dissolved in 1999, with its functions transferred to the Department of State, but its legacy includes strengthening diplomatic communication and cultural diplomacy.
