The Twelve Articles (farmers' revolt, 1525)

The Twelve Articles were a list of demands made by German peasants during the Peasants' War of 1525. They sought reform in social and economic conditions, including fairer treatment from landlords, the right to hunt and fish, and the abolition of certain feudal obligations. The articles highlighted grievances stemming from oppressive practices and called for a more equitable society based on Christian principles. The revolt was ultimately suppressed, but the Twelve Articles are significant for illustrating early calls for social justice and influencing later movements for rights and reforms in Europe.
