The Triple Entente
The Triple Entente was an alliance formed before World War I between France, Russia, and Britain. It was established to promote mutual security and counterbalance the growing power of the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy). The Entente was not a formal military treaty but a series of understandings and agreements that fostered cooperation and friendly relations. This alliance contributed to the tense political landscape of the time, as it meant that if one member was attacked, the others were more likely to come to their aid, increasing the risk of a large-scale war.
