The Triassic period
The Triassic period, occurring about 252 to 201 million years ago, marked the start of the Mesozoic Era and followed the Earth's most severe extinction event. During this time, the continents were joined in a supercontinent called Pangaea, leading to dry, arid climates with some lush coastal areas. It saw the emergence of early dinosaurs, crocodile-like reptiles, and the first mammals. Marine life diversified with new types of fish and reptiles. The Triassic laid the foundation for the age of dinosaurs, paving the way for significant biological and geological changes that shaped life on Earth.
