the Treaty of Corbeil

The Treaty of Corbeil was signed in 1258 between the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of France. It aimed to resolve conflicts over territorial claims, notably between King James I of Aragon and King Louis IX of France. The treaty resulted in the Aragonese relinquishment of its claims to the counties of Foix and Armagnac in southern France, consolidating their borders. In return, Aragon retained control over its territories in the Crown of Aragon, including Catalonia and Valencia. Essentially, it was a diplomatic agreement to clarify borders and reduce conflicts between the two realms, promoting stable relations in the region.
