The Talking Board (Ouija Board)

A Ouija board, also known as a talking board, is a flat surface marked with letters, numbers, and words like “yes,” “no,” and “goodbye.” Participants lightly rest their hands on a movable planchette, which is believed to respond to subconscious cues or, in some beliefs, to spiritual forces. When participants ask questions, the planchette moves to spell out answers, ostensibly facilitated by spirits or the unconscious mind. While many view it as entertainment or a parlor game, some believe it can serve as a tool for communication with spirits. Its use remains controversial and often viewed with skepticism.
