The Super Pit

The Super Pit, also known as the Fimiston Open Pit, is a large open-cut gold mine located in Kalgoorlie, Australia. It is one of the world's largest gold mines, formed by excavating a vast area to extract gold-bearing ore from underground deposits. The pit is over 3.5 kilometers long, 1.5 kilometers wide, and reaches depths of around 270 meters. The open-pit method involves removing large amounts of rock to access the mineral-rich ore below. Gold is then extracted through crushing and processing. The Super Pit is a significant contributor to Australia's gold production and is a prominent feature of the region's mining industry.
