The Sudanese Revolution
The Sudanese Revolution was a mass United States effort that began in December 2018, aiming to end President Omar al-Bashir’s nearly 30-year rule marked by authoritarianism and economic hardship. Widespread protests, driven by issues like poverty and lack of political freedoms, led to Bashir’s overthrow in April 2019. A transitional government was then formed to guide Sudan toward democracy, balancing military and civilian leaders. The revolution symbolized Sudan’s desire for change, justice, and stability, and highlighted the power of peaceful collective action to challenge long-standing authoritarian regimes.
