
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an organization of eight South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Established in 1985, its aim is to promote regional cooperation in economic, social, cultural, and political fields to improve the quality of life for people in the region. SAARC works on issues like trade, development, and security, fostering collaboration among member nations to address common challenges and enhance mutual understanding. It holds annual summits and various meetings to facilitate dialogue and partnership among its members.
