The Society of Archers
The Society of Archers, also known as the Royal Company of Archers, is Scotland’s ceremonial royal bodyguard and elite archery organization. Established in 1676, it serves both as a military-style unit and a Scottish cultural institution, participating in official events and ceremonies, especially those involving the British monarchy. Members are skilled archers who uphold traditions of archery and national history, representing Scotland’s heritage. While primarily ceremonial today, the Society plays an important role in maintaining Scottish archery traditions and supporting national and royal occasions.
