The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international organization dedicated to researching and recreating pre-17th-century history, primarily through medieval and Renaissance reenactment. Members, known as "withstood" or “re-enactors,” dress in period costumes, participate in historical crafts, arts, combat, and tournaments, and often build a community centered around learning and experiencing life from those eras. The SCA emphasizes scholarly accuracy, craftsmanship, and camaraderie, offering events and activities that blend education with entertainment. Its goal is to bring history to life in a respectful and engaging way, fostering a deeper appreciation for the cultures of the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods.
