The Slavic Mythology

Slavic mythology encompasses the traditional beliefs, deities, and legends of the Slavic peoples prior to Christianization. It features a pantheon of gods such as Perun (thunder and lightning), Veles (earth and water), and Mokosh (fertility). Nature spirits, mythic creatures, and sacred sites played vital roles, reflecting a deep reverence for natural forces. Myths often explain the world's origins, seasons, and morals, blending animism with ancestor worship. Although much was passed orally, these stories reveal a rich cultural connection to nature, spirituality, and communal identity of the ancient Slavs.
