The Six Gallery

The Six Gallery was an art space in San Francisco that hosted a historic event in 1955, often called the "Six Gallery reading." It was established by a group of poets and artists to promote avant-garde and experimental art. The event is famous for featuring Allen Ginsberg’s first public reading of his groundbreaking poem "Howl," which became a defining work of the Beat Generation. The gallery played a key role in the emerging West Coast literary scene, fostering creativity and challenging traditional norms of art and poetry.
