"The Singing Sculpture"
"The Singing Sculpture" was an art performance from 1969 featuring a sculpture of a rough, expressive male head made of foam and plaster, mounted on a metal stand. During the event, a performer would sit inside the sculpture, speaking and singing through a microphone, making the artwork appear as if it “came alive” with voice. This fusion of sculpture and live performance challenged traditional notions of static art, highlighting themes of human expression and the relationship between form and voice. It was a pioneering example of interactive, performance-based art that blurred boundaries between sculpture and theater.
