The Singer Solution to World Poverty (essay)

The Singer Solution to World Poverty, proposed by philosopher Peter Singer, argues that affluent individuals have a moral obligation to help those in extreme poverty. He suggests that if we can easily prevent suffering without sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance—like donating a portion of our income—we should do so. For example, instead of spending money on luxury items, we should contribute to effective charity organizations that alleviate global poverty. Singer contends that the gap between the rich and the poor can be reduced significantly if more people act on this moral imperative.
