The Scarf Model
The SCARF Model is a framework that explains human social interactions and motivation through five key domains: Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Fairness. Each domain influences how people feel in social situations. Status refers to relative importance among peers; Certainty highlights the need for predictability; Autonomy is about feeling in control; Relatedness relates to feelings of safety and belonging with others; and Fairness emphasizes the value of equitable treatment. Understanding these elements can help improve communication and collaboration in personal and professional settings by addressing individuals' social and emotional needs.
