The Sailboat
A sailboat is a watercraft that uses large fabric sails to harness wind power for movement across the water. The sails are attached to a mast and controlled with ropes called lines, allowing sailors to steer and adjust the boat’s direction and speed. The hull, or body, keeps the boat afloat and stable, while the keel or ballast prevents tipping. Sailboats can vary in size from small dinghies to large yachts. They are primarily used for recreation, sport, and sometimes transportation, relying on wind as a renewable, environmentally friendly energy source.
