The Sámi

The Sámi are an indigenous people living in the Arctic region of northern Europe, primarily across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia's Kola Peninsula. They have their own languages, cultures, and traditions, centered around reindeer herding, fishing, and hunting. Historically marginalized, the Sámi have worked to preserve their cultural identity and rights. Today, they are recognized with special protections and autonomy in some areas, and their vibrant art, music (notably joik), and traditional practices continue to be an important part of their community and heritage.
