The Rio Convention

The Rio Convention refers to three major international agreements established during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992: the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). These agreements aim to address global environmental challenges by promoting sustainable development, protecting ecosystems, and reducing the impacts of climate change and land degradation. They encourage countries to collaborate, set targets, and implement policies to safeguard natural resources for present and future generations.
