The Rift
The Rift is a large, deep valley formed by the movement of tectonic plates along the East African Rift System. It’s a region where the Earth's crust is gradually pulling apart, causing the land to sink and create space for volcanic activity and new crust to form. Over time, this process can lead to the development of lakes, volcanoes, and new geological features. The Rift is a natural example of plate tectonics in action, shaping the landscape and influencing the environment and ecosystems in East Africa.
